I watch a lot of Law and Order—all three versions. Yesterday I was in heaven. USA was having a Law and Order SVU marathon and at different times during the day, the other shows were on different networks.

But during one of the last episodes of the day, I was reminded of a sobering fact. The episode was about Internet predators. One of the cops was talking about his nephew. He had purchased a computer for his nephew because his nephew didn’t have many friends and his mother was at work a lot. One of the friends his nephew made turned out to be a pedophile who assaulted his nephew after convincing him to meet him.

Yes, this story is fiction but unfortunately it is a true story for many children. Google “internet predators” and you will find many news stories about children who have been lured online and assaulted or even killed. It is up to you to monitor what your child is doing online and to keep them safe from these predators. What are you doing to keep your kids safe?
