Homework Solutions

Is homework ever a challenge in your home? If so, you aren’t alone. Here are two complaints you may hear, along with solutions that are simple, but very effective.

“I don’t want to do homework.”

Make your homework time more pleasant by helping your child find a quiet, well-lit place to work. You can even encourage your child to reward himself for working hard. For example, he can get a break to play if he works hard for 30 minutes.

“This is too hard.”

Ask your child to read the directions to you and tell you what they are finding hard. Then, suggest that they look through their textbook for a similar problem or call a friend that might help.

If you find your child rushes through homework to watch TV or play video games, you could always consider liming electronics on school nights. If you find your child frequently struggles with their assignments, it is always a great idea to talk to their teacher.
