Shadow Science – Fun Activity

Here is a fun game you can do with your kids! It’s a guessing game with shadows, this will help your child learn more about light.

Materials Needed: Flashlight, Small Household Objects (for example: rubber duck, comb, wooden spoon, fork)

In a dark room, have your child face a wall. Standing behind them shine the flashlight on the wall above their head and then hold an object in the beam of light. Can they figure out what the item is by looking at the shadow? Take turns and let your child do the same to you, and you guess. Ask your child “How do you think a shadow is made?”

You can try doing different things with your child such as holding the items closer to the flashlight. What happens?

Its a fun activity, your kids are sure to love it!
